Jiang Ying delivers keynote speech at forum on AI applications during Global Digital Economy Conference
The Forum on the Development of Integrated Applications of Artificial Intelligence, a key event of the 2025 Global Digital Economy Conference, was held in Beijing on July 3.
Jiang Ying, president of the Beijing Internet Court (BIC), was invited to attend the event and delivered a keynote speech themed on the judicial safeguards for the healthy development of artificial intelligence (AI).
In her address, Jiang elaborated on the judicial concepts and the latest judicial practices established by the BIC in serving and safeguarding the development of the AI industry.
Entering the era of AI, courts should align themselves with the development trends of the times, accurately grasp the core values of fairness and justice in the rule of law, fully leverage the normative and guiding function of judicial adjudication, and continuously steer the development of AI technology in a positive and constructive direction, she said.
The BIC has adjudicated a number of landmark and influential cases related to AI, she said, such as China's first copyright infringement case involving an AI-generated image, the country's first personality right infringement case involving an AI-generated voice, the "AI companion" case, Beijing's first "AI face-swap" case, and the AI logo case. These cases have helped establish the judicial philosophy of people-centred and AI for good, she added.
According to Jiang, "people-centered" means that technological progress must serve to enhance people's well-being and improve overall quality of life, while "AI for good" refers to a forward-looking judicial approach that anticipates development trends, offers clear and stable legal expectations for the industry, stimulating innovation, and guiding AI toward directions that are beneficial to mankind.
